REMEMBERING
THE RUTLAND RAILROAD

WELCOME ABOARD

This site is a community effort and if you wish to contribute to our knowledge base you may do so by e-mailing whippet@greenmtnflyer.com

Welcome Aboard! The Remembering the Rutland website is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Rutland Railroad. Prepare to climb on board and take a historical journey down the rails and sidings of this once proud railroad.

Please take a few fascinating moments to look around and introduce yourself to this railroad and it's extensive operations.

Within these pages you will find capsulized histories, equipment rosters, maps, photographs and a wealth of additional information detailing the many facets of life on the Rutland and beyond. The many links and sidings can take your journey further providing you with more information on authors, books, periodicals, videos and websites where you can explore other aspects on the subject.

You will also get the opportunity to learn of ongoing efforts and projects to preserve Rutland facilities and equipment, without whose help these pages would not have been possible.

You will also be introduced to some of the modelling efforts and re-creations of the Rutland's history as it once again comes alive through the efforts of enthusiasts. A wealth of information is described which is a must for any model railroad developer or designer.

And finally be sure to visit the Rutland Railroad Historical pages to become familiar with the efforts of this organization to preserve the memories and history of the Rutland Railroad. Even though these pages are not officially associated with the Rutland Railroad Historical Society I strongly encourage anyone with the slightest bit of interest to become a member and open the door to the wealth of knowledge available within the group.

Be sure to visit the "Rutland Newsliner" pages to browse the Historical society's great quartely newsletter and how to obtain copies for your library. No railroad enthusiast library is complete without them.

I would also like to add a special thanks to Jim Dufour who is the original developer of these pages and without whose assistance I would never have been able to even begin to accomplish this project. Jim laid an excellent foundation for me to build on and is the cornerstone for this site.
